polyop was formed in 2015 by producers jack driscoll, harry orso and visual artist and programmer alex kempton. since then they have been researching and developing a visual-audio experience that fuses nature and tribal culture with the machine. ceremony is the first exploration of that aesthetic, with their own take on acid house, they take the subject on a hypnotic journey through an alternate sonic-visual reality. kemp mutates ceremony into something between disco and techno, the kick and bassline thick and pulsing, whilst the percussion syncopates infectiously. the track progresses into a crescendo, which is amplified by the cavernous feel of the mix. this is certain to hypnotise 3am dancefloor-pagans into a state of worship.

vlad dinu opens mihai bravu s 1st release starting the audio journey with deep in my house, a track that occupies the entire a side, just like a proper tool should. as the name of the track hints, we find ourselves submerged in deep territory: a tight and groovy bass line, laced with a steady percussion, sprinkled with some 16bit arcade reminiscent accents and soothing intermingled vocal cuts. the deep vibe is crafty perpetuated by several synths at play, which together combine in such a way to add a wide atmospheric feel to the composition. definitely deep in my house sounds and feels more like of a 90s tune, and while listening to it, one could easily find himself drift into the nostalgia of the good old days.
side b goes even deeper with two tracks defined by the notion of head tracks. gun zah continues the storyline with twisty percussive rhythms and a groovy atmosphere, tailored into a bangin floor choon while questions answered submerges the listener into layers of groovy basslines, swifty percs and milky synths, all put together into the form of a most alive track.

after an ep on creme organization off-shoot jericho one as dj plant texture, dona basile now assumes his dona alias for a new ep on the main label. entitled the v.g.p sessions, it features four new cuts from the italian, with three of them being dj pt mixes. up first is a live cut version of energia , a bristling electro track with globular bass and coarse hits. turbulent but full of synth based serenity, it is a fine start. cigarettes (djpt mix) is rugged and broken, with glossy idm synths and corrugated drums all loosely arranged into something prickly and unsettling. the deads at twelve (djpt mix) then gets even more fucked up, with rusty synths and blown out drums making for a dystopian house groove that will likely soundtrack the apocalypse. last but not least, nr. 13 (djpt mix) mixes up detroit synths, wild acid, heavenly chords and chopped up, buried deep vocal samples into something that will fire every synapse in your body. this is outlier stuff from dona that sounds like little else.

raw minimal techno specialist mono junk is back with a selection of new material on his own dum records. having pioneered key techno sounds as far back as 1990, more than 20 years later the influential finnish artist is still on top of his game. up first is halo, nine minutes of edgy techno with a nervy lead synth snaking around in paranoid fashion. rolling drums set a direct groove in motion below and the whole thing will be brilliantly hypnotic on the dance floor. halo 2 is a hallucinogenic bit of ambient with celestial drones and icy synth prickles making for a tense interlude, then musta peili is all fucked up and scuzzy, study and disrupted. sounding like a slowed-down techno track heard though a freezing snow blizzard, it is masterfully textured. farewell closes out the ep with an intergalactic bit of glassy melodic techno that will have you up on your toes.

baertaubs newest release wolke welcomes you with bazalt, a very tight and sharply shaped minimal techno track designed to awake your senses one by one from head to toe with small noisey cuts and bits that show their faces at certain times to draw a sonic geometrical map. next up is a relatively darker track rather than rain which again features those alien bits and is enriched with an unexpected and grande synth melody that somehow fits perfectly with the dark mood and alienating sound of the track. b side opens with the ztrl remix of bazalt which focuses on that witty geometrical face of the track and lifts it to an upper level with slowly building beats and hypnotizing loops. the ep closes off with the title track, wolke, which follows a very interesting trajectory: a tense sounding chord line is softened by a groovy bass and dubby touches and percussive samples which in the end provides an unexpectedly feel good ending to a positively minimal ep.
